What is IOP?
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral healthcare that is typically more structured and intensive than traditional weekly therapy.
The goal of IOP is to provide individuals with the support and treatment they need to manage their mental health issues and achieve lasting recovery, while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.
Curated groups
By bringing people with similar mental health challenges together, we’re able to create group environments where clients can learn how to build connections and foster long-term healing.
Individual therapy
One-on-one connections are critical to the IOP model, which is why each client’s unique treatment plan includes a primary therapist for weekly individual sessions.
Family therapy
The #1 predictor of success in IOP is family involvement. Our virtual intensive outpatient program’s family therapy component teaches communication and coping skills to create a more supportive home environment both during and after treatment.
Who is IOP for?
People with ongoing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis
IOP is designed for individuals who need more treatment and support than can be provided through once-weekly therapy, but who do not require the level of care provided through residential or inpatient treatment.

What our clients say
“I’ve gotten to a point where I can live again.”
When I came to Charlie Health, I was in a bad place and so depressed, but every week, I felt better and better, and I’ve gotten to a point where I can live again. It brought me back to life.

“This is the first time that therapy has actually felt productive.”
My issues weren't the popular issues I saw in groups. While others were here for depression and anxiety (and I'm glad they were here), I was in for psychosis and severe dissociation. Despite my different issues, we were all getting the care and help they needed. Everyone here wants to accept the help they can get with this opportunity, and everyone (staff and clients alike) has been incredibly kind and welcoming. The community is very inclusive, and it was nice not to have to water down my thoughts for the sake of others. Even when my problems were different, there was always some way we could relate to and help each other. That's the human experience. :) As for my one-on-one sessions, this is the first time that therapy has actually felt productive. It felt a bit more self-led, and my therapist was very good at getting me to reflect on where certain thoughts and beliefs may stem from. I came in overly self-aware, and now I know the ways that I can use that awareness to lead to change. I also have issues with being held accountable (opposition to authority), and my therapist was very good at guiding me to hold myself accountable rather than "shoving" the accountability in my face. She's been wonderful, and I finally feel like I've made progress and am capable of making more.

“The overall sense of community, even in a virtual setting, was very helpful to my recovery.”
Before I started, I saw a review online where someone mentioned "[Charlie Health] might have saved my life." I can 100% agree with this statement now that I have been through treatment myself. Charlie Health came into my life when I was at my lowest, and in the span of IOP, I have improved immensely. I felt supported for the entirety of my time in the program. The Care Team was excellent at communication; I got into a group almost immediately, and overall, everyone from Charlie Health was so attentive to my needs. I learned so much from my time in this program, and I appreciate from the bottom of my heart the love and support that I have received from the Charlie Health team. I enjoyed the diversity in the program and how we were introduced to many group therapists who all had amazing things to bring to the table. The overall sense of community, even in a virtual setting, was very helpful to my recovery. The program's flexibility allowed me to complete IOP while in school and even when I was traveling out of the state. I highly recommend Charlie Health to anyone in need of an IOP that is dedicated to your healing journey. I will be joining the alumni groups, which is another amazing thing Charlie Health offers! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me in this challenging but rewarding process. I will continue to carry all of the things I have learned here when coping with adversity.
