What is IOP?

Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral healthcare that is typically more structured and intensive than traditional weekly therapy.

The goal of IOP is to provide individuals with the support and treatment they need to manage their mental health issues and achieve lasting recovery, while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.

Curated groups

By bringing people with similar mental health challenges together, we’re able to create group environments where clients can learn how to build connections and foster long-term healing.

Individual therapy

One-on-one connections are critical to the IOP model, which is why each client’s unique treatment plan includes a primary therapist for weekly individual sessions.

Family therapy

The #1 predictor of success in IOP is family involvement. Our virtual intensive outpatient program’s family therapy component teaches communication and coping skills to create a more supportive home environment both during and after treatment.

Who is IOP for?

People with ongoing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis

IOP is designed for individuals who need more treatment and support than can be provided through once-weekly therapy, but who do not require the level of care provided through residential or inpatient treatment.

What our clients say

“Thank you for helping me and thousands of others who are just like me.”

"I first heard about Charlie Health when my younger sister was going through a crisis. I was astonished to hear about a virtual IOP that was not only nationwide, but really putting in the work to get state healthcare approval as well. I figured if the program was quality, that it could have a tremendous impact on the lack of accessible mental health care in America. A few months later, I found myself in crisis, the lowest I had ever been. It felt like it was meant to be. The admissions team made me feel safe and cared for almost immediately. I can't thank them enough. Through my time here, I have had countless things come up where my mental health could have taken a nosedive. But I have been able to stay out of crisis to the aid of my peers and their support. I can't thank Charlie Health enough for the fantastic work that goes into putting everyone in relevant groups. I even met another person who has narcolepsy, a very rare sleep disorder. It was effortless to connect with my group mates. We always made sure to help each other up when someone was down, because we knew that it was just a matter of time before it was one of us. My assigned therapist has allowed me to turn my life around. I have never felt so seen and understood by a professional, I can tell she actually cares. I'm looking forward to continuing working with her moving forward. I can't recommend Charlie Health enough. I even would love to work for their tech department because I believe in the product that much. Thank you for helping me and thousands of others who are just like me."

“It helped because I didn't feel so alone in group.”

I was having really bad suicidal ideation before I got to Charlie Health and then I attempted suicide and then my school offered Charlie Health to me and I joined. I started in group sessions first and then I got in individual therapy and then I got into family therapy. It helped because I didn't feel so alone in group and I got to talk to them about what was going on in my school life and my home life. And then I got to talk to my individual therapist about the things that happened and we talked through it. Then I went to family therapy and built a relationship with my dad and I built a better relationship with my mom and sister.

“I found a great support system in Charlie Health and feel much better than I did when I first started.”

Charlie Health has been great. I was very skeptical at first and concerned about the amount of time I had to put into it, but it was completely worth it! Charlie Health gave me the skills to help myself when I am feeling down and my group members were so supportive -- especially once I found the right group; I will miss them all dearly. I found a great support system in Charlie Health and feel much better than I did when I first started. I endured a lot of big changes in my household that I could not handle, so my outside therapist recommended I try Charlie Health, and I'm glad she did. Feeling so alone and hopeless, I didn't know what to do, but as I progressed at Charlie Health, I learned coping skills and ways to turn my negative thoughts around. I see a difference in myself, my therapist sees a difference in me, and my family sees a difference, too. Charlie Health is a great program; if you keep an open mind and are willing to try, you will feel better every day. Of course, everyone has rough days, which is normal, but Charlie Health gives you the skills to cope with and handle those emotions. I cannot recommend it enough. Give it a try; if it doesn't work for you, you can always discharge. Just always remember to keep an open mind.
