What is IOP?
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a level of behavioral healthcare that is typically more structured and intensive than traditional weekly therapy.
The goal of IOP is to provide individuals with the support and treatment they need to manage their mental health issues and achieve lasting recovery, while still allowing them to maintain their daily routines and responsibilities.
Curated groups
By bringing people with similar mental health challenges together, we’re able to create group environments where clients can learn how to build connections and foster long-term healing.
Individual therapy
One-on-one connections are critical to the IOP model, which is why each client’s unique treatment plan includes a primary therapist for weekly individual sessions.
Family therapy
The #1 predictor of success in IOP is family involvement. Our virtual intensive outpatient program’s family therapy component teaches communication and coping skills to create a more supportive home environment both during and after treatment.
Who is IOP for?
People with ongoing mental health issues or in a mental health crisis
IOP is designed for individuals who need more treatment and support than can be provided through once-weekly therapy, but who do not require the level of care provided through residential or inpatient treatment.

What our clients say
“The skills that I learned saved my life.”
My depression started really young, when I was 4 or 5 years old. I’ve dealt with so much since then—childhood sexual trauma, an eating disorder and then substance abuse. I flunked out of school and went on medical leave to find treatment. Charlie Health was the first thing I found. It’s given me the emotional maturity to handle hard things and I’ve gotten more emotional regulation, which is something I wish I had my entire life. The skills that I learned saved my life—my stressors are still there but how I react is completely different. It feels so good to have agency over my emotions, that's something I’ve never felt before.

“It ended up being very comforting to hear other people's stories.”
Before Charlie Health I was not in a very good relationship. It took a huge toll. I ended up having to go to the hospital, and that’s when Charlie Health was recommended to me. I’d never done group sessions, so I was really nervous, but it ended up being very comforting to hear other people’s stories. After treatment, I met up with my ex, and he said he wanted to get back together, but I told him I didn’t trust him in the way I needed for a relationship. I never expected to be able to stick up for myself, and it definitely showed how much I changed through Charlie Health.

“My family will forever be changed by the generational trauma I have worked on breaking.”
I had reached a point in my life where something had to give. I found Charlie Health through the military and was scared at first and wasn't sure it would help, but I am so happy I gave it a chance. My husband and immediate family have noticed a significant difference in my countenance and behaviors. I am lighter and happier. I can be faced with stress and not be overwhelmed by it. I will definitely be continuing treatment with a one on one because there is still healing to be done, but now I have a clean and healthy slate to begin handling my trauma. I will recommend the CBT groups to everyone. My family will forever be changed by the generational trauma I have worked on breaking. My children will get to have a whole mother who is not weighed down by her grief and depression or anxiety. My husband now has a partner that can communicate and we will continue to cultivate a healthy and loving friendship and marriage.
